
The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) is hosting beneficiaries of the Digital Capabilities Skills (DCS) programme organized by the Lagos State Government through its Ministry of Tertiary Education for three consecutive Saturdays, starting from 26th October, 2024. The other Saturdays are 2nd November and 9th November 2024.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event which took place on Saturday, 26th October 2024 at the 500-seater auditorium, Ikorodu campus, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya explained that the 3-week programme was designed to produce competent manpower for the industry, consequent upon which the Lagos State Government initiated the scheme to impart, build and equip students for ready-to-work experiences, knowledge and skills.
While appreciating the State Government for the initiative, Prof. Odusanya urged the beneficiaries of the programme who are students selected from across the state’s tertiary institutions (including LASUSTECH), to utilize the rare opportunity to improve and arm themselves with the necessary skills needed for the 21st-century job market.
Declaring the event open, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Waheed Kasali noted that a cardinal focus of the programme was to execute the THEME plus agenda of the state as it aims to enhance the quality of graduates with soft skills centered around technology, creativity, partnership, critical thinking and problem-solving necessary to meeting the 21st century job requirements.
In his vote of thanks, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Tertiary Education, Mr. Adeola Adewunmi appreciated everyone for their presence and enjoined the participants to fully engage in the training to reap the enormous benefits embedded in it.
