Students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology
(LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, will be participating in the highly competitive 2024
Huawei Global ICT Competition. This prestigious event, known for attracting
top talents in Information and Communications Technology from around the
world, offers LASUSTECH students the opportunity to showcase their skills on
a global stage.
The competition’s University coordinator, Dr. Stephen Aderibigbe, who also
serves as the Acting HOD Computer Science Department and Administrator of the LASUSTECH ICT Academy, organized a roadshow and registration event on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the ICT Center on the Ikorodu Campus. During the programme, students had the opportunity to hear inspiring success stories
from past winners and register for this year’s competition. Huawei-branded
souvenirs were distributed to attendees.
The competition spans three rigorous stages—National, African, and Global.
National-level finalists will receive a laptop and a cash prize of N1 million with
specialized training to prepare them for the regional stage. Top contenders
from Africa will then advance to the global competition, where they will
represent the continent and potentially bring global recognition to Nigeria.
The Huawei Global ICT Competition offers participants valuable benefits,
including enhanced ICT skills, globally recognized certifications, and industry
exposure.
Additionally, students will gain access to an international network of ICT
experts, internship and job opportunities with Huawei and its partners, and the
chance to win prestigious awards. The competition is open to all ICT-interested
students who are eager to challenge themselves, learn, and grow in a dynamic
field.
